03 - How to create a more advanced Topline report?
- The basic Topline report will normally show number of interviews, percentage of the respondents answered, base asked and base answered.
- For numeric questions it will normally show number of interviews, average value, base asked and base answered.
If you want to create a somewhat more comprehensive Topline report, you should follow one of the following methods:
Specify other values to show
Click the “Options” button. This will then give you the possible choices you have for the Topline report. You can select from the following top menus:
- Categorical values
- Quantitative values
- Filter and weight
- You may filter the topLine showing the results from only a subset of the data set
- Activating the Weight set will give you the weighted number of interviews (or population figures)
- Extended Options
- Categorical bases
- Quantitative bases
- Percentage specifications
Note that the specifications will work for ALL questions you have selected in the Topline report.
Run a Cross Table on with only total column
In some cases, you will need a more comprehensive report, especially on the numeric questions. We would then recommend that you run a “Cross Tab analysis”, and concentrate on the Totals.
- Select the Cross Tab analysis, and select all (or a subset of the data) and drop into the “Drop your rows here” area.
- Select all questions in the Drop area, right click and “Edit options”
- You may now select from an even wider range of values, both for categorical and quantitative values. You may e.g. for numeric categories select:
- Average
- Standard deviation, Standard Error
- Fractiles (25%,50%,75%, Free)
- Minimum value, maximum value
- Accumulated sum
- Population figure (Weighted number of interviews)
